SCP-106

Object Class: Euclid

Entry Type: Book or Document

Special Containment Procedures

Description

Physical Appearance: SCP-106 appears to be a rusted iron safe, bearing a manufacturer's mark indicating it was made in the year 1875. The safe is 1.2 meters in height, 0.8 meters in width, and 0.6 meters in depth. It has a combination lock on the front face, but the combination is unknown and the lock is non-standard.

Anomalous Properties: When three consecutive attempts are made to open the lock on SCP-106, it will become active and attempt to harm any human being within 3 meters. It does so by manifesting a spectral, armored knight that wields a short sword made of the same iron as SCP-106. The knight is hostile and will attempt to kill the intruder. If the intruder successfully evades or kills the knight, SCP-106 will deactivate until a further three consecutive attempts are made on the lock.

Origin: SCP-106 was discovered in a London antique store in 1925 when a curious individual opened the safe three times in a row out of suspicion that it was a dummy safe. The first time, nothing happened. But upon the third attempt, the spectral armored knight manifested and attacked the individual, causing panic in the shop. Foundation agents were alerted to the incident and swiftly apprehended the knight, recording its actions, and relocated SCP-106 to a secure containment site.

Addendum SCP-106.1: Attempt-Counter-Resetting Experiment

On ██/██/1988, D-995 was instructed to attempt to open SCP-106's lock until the manifestation of the spectral knight. Upon the knight's manifestation, D-995 was to reset the lock's attempt counter to zero and report the success time. D-995 successfully completed the task in 7 minutes and 34 seconds, confirming that resetting the attempt counter does indeed deactivate SCP-106. D-995 was terminated post-experimentation.
